How the Temperature Blanket Tracker Works
The Temperature Blanket Tracker works in 4 steps.
- 1
Write the color chart
List temperature ranges and colors in the notes box, for example "<32°F white / 32–41 light blue / 42–51 blue".
- 2
Set the day target
Enter 365, or 366 in a leap year, into Target Goal.
- 3
Log each day
Add the date, the high temperature and the color to your notes.
- 4
Tap after each row or motif
Press Space or tap + Count when the day's row or square is finished.
Temperature Blanket Tracker Formula
The Temperature Blanket Tracker formula converts temperature between scales and assigns a color band.
°C = (°F − 32) × 5 ÷ 9
Color band = ⌊(Temperature − Lowest band start) ÷ Band width⌋ + 1
- Band width
- Degrees covered by each color, often 10°F
- Lowest band start
- Lower limit of the coldest band
Worked example: A high of 74°F equals (74 − 32) × 5 ÷ 9 = 23.3°C. With bands of 10°F starting at 20°F, the band is ⌊(74 − 20) ÷ 10⌋ + 1 = 6.
Temperature Blanket Tracker Conversion Table
The Temperature Blanket Tracker conversion table shows 10°F color bands with their Celsius equivalents.
| Band | Range (°F) | Range (°C) | Sample color |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | 20–29 | -6.7 to -1.7 | White |
| 2 | 30–39 | -1.1 to 3.9 | Ice Blue |
| 3 | 40–49 | 4.4 to 9.4 | Blue |
| 4 | 50–59 | 10 to 15 | Teal |
| 5 | 60–69 | 15.6 to 20.6 | Green |
| 6 | 70–79 | 21.1 to 26.1 | Yellow |
| 7 | 80–89 | 26.7 to 31.7 | Orange |
| 8 | 90–99 | 32.2 to 37.2 | Red |
Adjust the bands to your local climate so every color gets used.
What is a Temperature Blanket Tracker?
A temperature blanket tracker is a tracker that links each day's temperature to a yarn color and records the row or motif made for that day. The Crochet Stitch Counter Temperature Blanket Tracker keeps 365 daily entries in order.
A temperature blanket records a year of weather. Each day gets 1 row, 1 stripe or 1 granny square, and the color comes from a temperature chart such as "60–69°F (15.6–20.6°C) = green". Falling behind by a week makes it easy to skip a day or repeat one.
The tracker keeps the color chart, the day count and the daily readings together.
What are the Uses of a Temperature Blanket Tracker?
There are 4 main uses of a Temperature Blanket Tracker.
