Privacy Policy

Clear, honest and kind to your privacy. Your projects belong to you.

This Privacy Policy explains how Crochet Stitch Counter (“we”, “our” or “the tool”) handles data when you use crochetstitchcounter.com and all of its crochet tools. Our tools run in your browser and are private by default. We use no third-party tracking cookies, and you never need an account.

1. Who we are

Crochet Stitch Counter runs crochetstitchcounter.com. We offer a free online stitch counter, row and repeat trackers and craft calculators. If you have a question about your data, write to us at support@crochetstitchcounter.com or use our contact page.

2. Data stored on your device

All your project data and counts stay on your own device. When you use Crochet Stitch Counter, your browser saves the following in its local storage (localStorage):

This data stays in your browser on your device. It is never sent to our servers, to a database or to any third party.

  • Your project: its name, row count, stitch count, target rows, stitches per row, repeats, stitch markers, yarn colors and notes.
  • Saved values for each tool, such as gauge sizes, counter checkpoints and your own tallies.
  • Your settings, such as sound on or off and the fabric view (yarn or grid).

3. Technical data we get on our own

When you visit crochetstitchcounter.com, our host and content delivery network (CDN) may keep standard server logs. These logs may record your IP address, browser type, the pages you ask for, the page you came from and the time.

We use these logs only to keep the site safe, fast and online: for security checks, caching, blocking attacks (DDoS) and uptime. We keep them for a short time. We never link them to your craft work or to a user profile.

4. Messages you send us

If you use our contact form or email support@crochetstitchcounter.com, we get what you send us. This may be your name, email address, topic and message.

We use it only to reply to you, fix the issues you report and make our tools better. We do not sell your contact details. We do not sign you up for any newsletter.

5. Cookies and analytics

Crochet Stitch Counter sets no ad, tracking or profiling cookies. We use no third-party analytics and no ad networks.

The local storage data from Section 2 is only there to make the tool work and to keep your project between visits. It is never shared with other sites or sent to ad networks.

6. Third-party services

To keep the site fast and easy to use, we rely on a small number of service providers:

  • Google Fonts: our fonts (Plus Jakarta Sans and JetBrains Mono) load from Google's servers. To send the font files, Google gets the standard request data your browser sends, including your IP address.
  • Our host and CDN: they send the site's pages, styles, scripts and images to you. They also keep the server logs described in Section 3.
  • Contact form service: if we turn on a form service, it sends your message to our inbox. If not, the form opens your own email app with a mailto link.

7. What we do not do

  • We do not ask you to make an account, log in, set a password or sign up to use our tools.
  • We do not store your stitch counts, row progress, yarn colors or notes on our own or any cloud servers.
  • We do not sell, rent or trade your personal data or browsing habits to data brokers or advertisers.
  • We do not add cross-site trackers, pixels or profiling scripts.

8. Managing and clearing your data

Your counts and notes live on your device, so you are always in control of them:

Where you live may give you legal rights over your data, such as GDPR in the EU or CCPA/CPRA in California. You may ask to see, fix or delete any personal data we hold, such as emails you sent us. To do so, email us at support@crochetstitchcounter.com.

  • Reset the counter: click the 'Reset' button at the top of the tool to clear your project and start fresh.
  • Clear browser data: delete cookies and site data for crochetstitchcounter.com in your browser settings. This removes all saved counters and settings.
  • Use a private window: in private or incognito mode, your data is wiped when you close the window.

9. Children's privacy

Crochet Stitch Counter is made for crafters of all ages. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you think a child has sent us their contact details, please tell us and we will delete them right away.

10. Links to other sites

Our site may link to other craft sites, such as pattern designers, yarn sites or guides. We do not control those sites. We are not responsible for their content or how they handle your data.

11. Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may change this Privacy Policy when our tools, our setup or the law change. When we do, we will update the date at the bottom of this page.

12. Contact us
