Crochet Stitch Counter was born out of a simple frustration shared by every crocheter: “Wait, was this stitch 14 or 15? And did I finish row 8 or row 9?”
Tally clickers and scrap-paper notes get lost, get bumped, and can't capture multi-color patterns, repeats or stitch markers. We created Crochet Stitch Counter to give makers a modern, tactile digital workspace that makes tracking rows as satisfying as the craft itself.
What Makes Crochet Stitch Counter Different
Real-time fabric visualization
Every click builds yarn stitches on a virtual swatch, keeping your eyes on row progress and stitch balance.
Keyboard first, zero disruption
Keep your hook in hand. Tap the Space bar or the large on-screen button, with soft audio feedback, to count stitches effortlessly.
100% client-side privacy
No accounts, no paywalls and no ad tracking. Your projects, yarn palettes and pattern notes are saved in your own browser storage.
Pattern repeats & markers
Pin virtual stitch markers on key stitches and track multi-row repeats for amigurumi, granny squares and blankets.
Who Runs Crochet Stitch Counter
Crochet Stitch Counter is an independent craft initiative founded by Fahad Shoaib and developed alongside a small team of passionate crocheters and web engineers, published at crochetstitchcounter.com. We use the counter daily on our own blankets, amigurumi, and garments, and every feature begins as a real solution to a challenge encountered while working through a pattern.
Built on Real Crochet Practice
The tool follows standard US crochet terminology (sc, hdc, dc) and the way patterns are actually written: stitches per row, rows per section and repeated motifs. We test changes on real projects before release and welcome corrections from experienced makers and designers.
Our Craft Philosophy
Crochet is a mindful, relaxing craft. We believe your counting tool should support that calm, not complicate it with ads or confusing menus. Every detail of Crochet Stitch Counter – from the soft audio clicks to the yarn color selectors – is designed to feel calm, tactile and responsive.
